Assistant Coordinators needed in Sri Lanka 8+ weeks expenses paid

Volunteers needed to volunteer in Sri Lanka.
8+ Weeks from Sept 2012 onwards.

Projects include Teaching English, Working at Special Needs Centres, Children’s Homes and Coaching Sport.

All living expenses whilst in Sri Lanka covered. Must be able to commit to volunteering with the team for a minimum of 8 weeks.

SL Volunteers is a Volunteer Organisation in Sri Lanka, set up by a team of recent graduates. “We couldn’t find a volunteer organisation for students & graduates, that was ethical, provided training & was affordable. So we created our own.”

All volunteers are required to undergo a series of in-country training sessions run by local NGO’s and charity workers, such as basic Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL), working with children and people with special needs.

Duties include:
– Teaching English
– Working at children’s homes
– Coaching sport
– Working with people with Special Needs.
– Assisting Project Managers

Any Volunteer that can commit to 4+ weeks working at SL Volunteers London office or help with recruitment, will have all living expenses covered in Sri Lanka. Volunteers that cannot to commit to work in London are still eligible to apply but will be required to contribute to their expenses in Sri Lanka. Volunteer expenses include: Training, Food & Accommodation, Internal travel.

1st 4 weeks (in Sri Lanka): Standard volunteering schedule.
Including 1 week of training.

2nd 4+ weeks (in Sri Lanka): Extra Responsibilities
– Volunteers will be required to assist the new volunteer arrivals.
– Help run the orientation week.
– Volunteers will be expected to volunteer at the newer and less established projects.
– Take records of how the projects are progressing.
– Volunteers with more specialist experience will be placed on more challenging projects.
