ST EUSTATIUS / WorkingAbroad Projects
Volunteer in the Caribbean on the beautiful island of St. Eustatius and study its archaeological heritage. You will gain experience in the following activities:
-Archaeological field and lab work
-Excavation and survey techniques
-Archaeological drawing and photography
-Artefact processing
-Identification and conservation
-Report preparation and legislation
During your stay you will be given presentations and lectures about the artefacts you find, the islands history and archaeology and archaeological methods and techniques. If you are a student and have a project in mind or any particular interests there is guidance available.
A normal day for volunteers includes field work in the mornings (8am – 12) and lab work in the afternoons (1 – 4pm). On Fridays there is a half day excursion or field trip to another site on the island.
You can join for 1 week up to 12 weeks all year round and we have places throughout 2015 available.
Individuals, groups and students all welcome.
Cost for lodging in volunteer house, project materials, training & tuition, airport pickup; starts at £515.
