Our olive estate in western Crete, specialized in the production of artisan stone milled, cold pressed organic olive oil, is seeking help for the tourist period April-November 2013. Please apply only if you can commit to staying for all or most of the season.
Candidates should be energetic, motivated, innovative, passionate people who believe in the value of artisan products. We are accepting volunteers to give tours of our olive mill in exchange for room and board. Good English skills are essential, and knowledge of another language, German, French or a Scandinavian language, would be very helpful. If we are bottling orders you may also be asked to give us a hand with that. For this work we are looking for volunteers who can commit for the whole touristic period.
We are also looking for a competent web developer who can help update our site. (If you are a web developer we can use your help before April), as well as volunteers to help with field and construction/maintenance work. There is no time requirement for these positions.
We are accepting volunteers for this period in exchange for room and board. Accommodation is in a small village house in close proximity to our olive mill. There is a fully equipped kitchen and a washing machine as well as Wi-Fi. The little house is not luxurious, but it is clean and comfortable. We provide food staples (volunteers can tell us what they prefer), and you cook your own meals.
We are located in the village of Astrikas, which is a very small village with no shopping except for the local cafe which carries a few things like cigarettes, soft drinks, etc. The closest town is the seaside town of Kolymbari, which is 10km away, and the main city, Chania, is 35km away. There is bus service in Astrikas only once a day Monday to Friday (leaving early am and return mid-afternoon), also bus service every half hour daily from Kolymbari to Chania. I want volunteers to understand that we are out in the country…
