English Language Assistant in Germany

GERMANY / Hermann-Lietz-Schule, Haubinda

The Hermann-Lietz-Schule, Haubinda, Germany is looking for young native English speakers to work for an academic year as English Language Assistants, from 1 September 2012 to July 2013.

Haubinda is a small, rural boarding and day school for pupils aged from 7 to 18. More information about the school can be found at www.haubinda.de or www.haubinda.net

We are looking to appoint people who aren’t afraid of hard work and who enjoy working with young people. The ability to speak at least intermediate German is important, too, although language skills improve greatly over the year.

This post would be suitable for someone looking to take a year out before going to college / university.

Responsibilities of the job include helping out in class and giving one-on-one lessons to weaker pupils.

Assistants play a large role in the life of the school and are actively encouraged to take part in extra-curricular activities, which range from sport to baking to metal-work to choir.

An allowance of 300 Euro a month is provided, which isn’t too bad when you consider that accommodation, all meals and extra-curricular activities including trips are provided for free. Onsite internet access is also available.

Applications should be sent by email to Kirsten Ehinger: k.ehinger@hl-haubinda.de (subject: application for assistantship)

In this you should describe your previous schooling, language skills, achievements, interests, previous visits to Germany (if relevant) and you should attach a recent photo (common practice in Germany).

Closing date for applications is May 30 2012

Expires: May 30, 2012
