CAMBODIA / Inspire
Cambodia is a developing country that faces many social issues and children regularly don’t receive the care and support they need. Institutions in rural Battambang province, where we work, are often poorly funded and ill equipped to deal with the many problems that children can face. A host of local NGOs try to pick up children who fall through the cracks or who have been neglected. This project gives volunteers the opportunity to work with local NGOs to lead a wide range of activities for children who need attention and care to suit them as individuals. Volunteers can get involved with leading groups in teaching arts & crafts, dance, music, drama, computers, sport and much more. The project also encourages volunteers to help teach children important life skills such as personal hygiene, HIV/Aids awareness and social skills.
International volunteers in Cambodia can help by bringing their skills, energy and compassion to grassroots organisations with a real need. At Inspire we work with local NGOs who focus on protecting children against all forms of violence, exploitation, abuse, trafficking and child labour. Volunteers can help by working with NGOs in the local community which have been specifically identified as being in particular need.
There is a fantastic volunteer house available in Battambang where our volunteers can live together in shared accommodation. Alternatively there are different accommodation options which can be explored such as homestays or renting in local guesthouses.
Please note this programme requires a participation fee.
