The Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) seeks a Program Manager to lead its Climate Change Adaptation efforts in Papua New Guinea. WCS focuses on implementing community-based and scientifically sound conservation strategies that integrate climate change. The position involves overseeing the implementation of the ‘Strengthening the ability of vulnerable island communities in Papua New Guinea to adapt to climate change’ (‘CCA’) project.
This project addresses the need to reinforce ecological resilience through effective resource management and to strengthen capacity within local communities to better enable communities to adapt to the impacts of climate change. Principal Responsibilities include technical advice to WCS-PNG and government and non-government partners on climate change issues; ensure the implementation of CCA field activities; coordinate financial and administrative support for field activities; facilitate coordination with the WCS Country and Marine offices and implementation partners, AusAID and PNG government.
The preferred candidate will have a PhD or Masters degree and minimum 3 years of experience in management in a field related to climate change adaptation or conservation; and a proven ability to work in an international context and in remote field locations.
