Volunteers are needed to help in managing the Landmannalagur wilderness region of Southern Iceland, at Fjallabak nature reserve.

Management tasks will be undertaken alongside nature reserve staff and include trail repair, way marking, removal of off-road driving tracks and moss transplantation.

Volunteer requirements:

-Should be aged 20-50

– Should be physically fit and capable of working in all conditions in a cold and wet climate

– Should be capable of hiking daily and ideally have had previous exposure to wilderness terrain

Cost:

The cost for the two week programme is £360, which covers all project costs, including all food for two weeks, camping, equipment provided for the project (not personal), comprehensive insurance cover, lightweight cooking facilities, all training and supervision by project manager and volunteers, WorkingAbroad Projects backup and placement support, and so on.
