Are you looking for somewhere to carry out a research project or placement as part of your degree? Or do you simply want to gain some work experience and have an enjoyable and worthwhile vacation? Why not consider coming to Sunseed Desert Technology in sunny southern Spain.
We are a British/Spanish NGO who carry out projects and research in areas including Appropriate Technology, Biological Research and Dryland Regeneration, EcoConstruction and Maintenance, Organic Growing and many others. We also can offer projects in our Education, Publicity and Fundraising Department and Household and Community where you can get involved in preserving food, food policy, waste management and many other creative projects.
Our wide range of activities and holistic approach means that we can offer projects or placements for students studying a wide range of disciplines including: Environmental Science, Development Studies, Engineering, Construction, Architecture, Agriculture, Marketing, Journalism, Economics and many more.
Potential projects Being an FTV, other types of volunteering Students coming to Sunseed on a university placement, would usually work as a Full-Time Volunteer (FTV). Full Time Volunteers usually join for 5 weeks or more and are expected to work 35 hours a week (5 days of 7 hours). An FTV makes a donation to Sunseed for an amount which depends on the time of year and length of stay, this donation covers all food (vegetarian/vegan ), accommodation and project costs. Max 84€ per week.
During the week we include activities such as: educational seminars (on Permaculture, Thermal Mass Stove, Ethics on Food, Soils Fertility, Chemicals on products, etc..), specific guided tours of the different departments, Spanish lessons, solar power documentaries/cinema, visits to other projects, Open Space for share activities, etc..
