Eco Construction and Maintenance ECM Co-ordinator

Sunseed seeks to appoint an Eco- Construction & Maintenance ECM Coordinator for a minimum of one year Starting on June 2011. The post is voluntary, but accommodation and board are provided, plus a small pocket money allowance. The ECM Coordinator will live in a small community together with six other staff, volunteers and visitors.

Living and working conditions are basic, and the emphasis is on a sustainable lifestyle. The post entails general staff duties as well as the ECM work and will include a variety of working hours including weekends and evenings

Role Information: The responsibilities of the ECM Co-ordinator are wide and require all-round skills ranging from plumbing repairs to joinery. Volunteers from many countries are keen to help with the building work, often having more enthusiasm than skills. Good teaching and supervisory skills are therefore required along with an excellent understanding for the need and application of clear Health and Safety standards.

The work includes ongoing infrastructure improvements such as roof repairs, mending doors and windows, rodding and clearing pipes from the urinals and water collecting system. There are also many opportunities to design and implement new ideas to improve the running of the project and working with other departments to provide the construction element of new set ups is another major aspect of the work.
