Welcome Back To The Jobs Abroad Bulletin Newsletter
Hello reader. Last month we published the 101st issue of the Jobs Abroad Bulletin, 12 years after we posted the 100th. Sorry for the delay. To be fair, we have posted thousands of vacancies on this website and there were all those emails via RSS feed.
JAB started in April 2000, as a free monthly email bulletin, with 700 subscribers, eventually growing to 70,000 before we switched to posting the vacancies sent to us in a blog format.
Like most people in travel or travel writing, Covid hit us hard. Brexit didn’t help before that. Our readership shrunk and the number of job vacancies posted on our site dried up. We already shared ads we found on other websites via our JobSpy column, so we stepped that up and carried on. The newsletter will be an expansion of this, initially anyway.
This JAB newsletter reboot will no doubt take its time to evolve into the form it will eventually take. Our first draft came in at a little under twenty thousand words with plenty still to add. There’s no way – none at all – we’ll be able to keep that up every month, so we decided to break JAB into parts.

At the beginning of the month, we will trawl the internet for global opportunities which we believe will interest working travellers, international volunteers, gap year students, or anyone else that wants to finance their travels or save money by working as they go.
Most months we also hope to send a second post, The Working Traveller supplement, full of ideas, articles and news. Occasionally we may also send one or two additional emails if we can.
This way we feel we can publish each month but without the pressure to crank out content when the nearest decent wifi is a boat and a bus away or we just feel the need to snooze in a riverside hammock.
The newsletter is just one of many changes we have made in the past two years and will be our main focus from now on. Though we aim to publish our content there first, we’ll still add much of that content here too, maybe a few days later, for those of you that don’t want to be bothered by an email every month.
