AFRICA / Volunteer 4 Africa
This project is seeking a volunteer to help operate a new Land Rover workshop and train a team of local mechanics to run the workshop beyond the lifetime of this position. The workshop is fully equipped to repair and maintain vehicles sent from the UK. Once road worthy and suited for purpose the Land Rovers will become part of a rental business, designed as a not-for-profit enterprise, creating local employment and incomes.
The ideal candidate will be a real Land Rover enthusiast, with a minimum of 5 years experience in Land Rover repair, you’ll know all there is to know about keeping vehicles in tip-top condition. But perhaps more importantly you will be an intuitive teacher, able to pass on your skills to a team of local mechanics and to set up systems and procedures to ensure that all vehicles are serviced on a regular basis. This can be tricky when spares often need to be imported, so you’ll need to be a thorough planner and resourceful problem solver.
Most expenses paid including flights, insurance, visas, accommodation and 3 meals per day. All volunteers must be available for a UK interview.
