The position is primarily a training course during which the Trainee Instructor will learn about, and gain valuable experience in, the whole outdoor education industry and a busy residential centre whilst working towards achieving a full range of NGB qualifications. Trainees will begin by shadowing and seconding our fully qualified and experienced staff; as experience and qualifications are gained you will progress to leading and taking responsibility for groups and activities. As part of the role there will be some domestic duties and shifts undertaken each week.
The trainee instructors’ package is valued at £15,000 per annum. This includes a monthly allowance of £350, all costs and fees relating to training and assessment courses listed above, an end of year bonus of £1,200, full board accommodation in a staff house and utility bills, uniform/clothing. In addition trainees have access to equipment, vehicles, and heavily discounted trade deal accounts with various kit suppliers.
