Volunteer in Costa Rica and work in a heroic centre that acts as a safe and supportive home for children who have been abused or neglected. The home provides housing and meals, as well as physical, psychological, educational, emotional and spiritual restoration to every child. This is a great place to volunteer and these children definitely need more care and social interaction than the average kid. Many of these children have learning or physical disabilities as well as the trauma of having been neglected or abused.
The children’s home is a small facility with houses on the property for living quarters, a pool, a playground, cafeteria and classrooms. You will have lots of hands-on work in caring for the children. You will help with different activities ranging from after-school programmes, assisting with homework, to helping in home improvement projects. Volunteers are expected to spend time with the children and act as mentors. It is a place where all volunteers who love children are greatly needed and appreciated.
