We are looking to recruit six volunteers aged 18 – 30 to support the work of the German Red Cross for 12-month placements (1 September 2019 – 31 August 2020). The placement is based at the Neinstedt Foundation, an organisation dedicated to improving the lives of children and adults with physical and mental disabilities.
1) Day Care – One volunteer will work in a day care centre for those with disabilities, especially the older generation. They will work alongside staff to help improve the knowledge and skills of the beneficiaries, such as implementing movement and artistic based activities.
2) Care Support (2 places) – Two volunteers will be based with a residential group, providing care support and personal care to adults with multiple disabilities. The volunteers will help with the palliative care of the residents as well as with the housekeeping and leisure time activities.
3) Farm “Marienhof” – The foundation has a farm which provides a living environment to those with mental disabilities. The volunteer will support staff in the running of the farm activities and the daily care of the beneficiaries.
4) Kindergarten “Peace” – This kindergarten aims to help children with disabilities live an open and prejudice free life. The volunteer will help to run activities tailored to the children’s needs, such as reading and dance activities, and promote English among the children.
5) Kindergarten and after-school care”Speilstunde” – The volunteer will help at a kindergarten and an after-school club which allows children with and without disabilities to play and learn together in a friendly environment. The work will include observing playtime and supporting children with daily activities (serving meals, dressing).
