ROMANIA / Global Vision International
Volunteer to teach English to underprivileged children and/or adults in Transylvania’s beautiful Carpathian Mountains in Romania, Europe. Teach English in the village schools and after school club to the Romanian curriculum and plan informal, fun and interactive classes with different activities such as art, sports, drama and music to feed the children’s hunger to learn. During school holidays there is an opportunity to teach in the summer school. The project supports underprivileged children and adults in the community with basic English, enabling the children’s entry into high school at the age of 14 and adults to gain meaningful employment. Working with the children and adults alike is extremely challenging, but very rewarding as every day is full of fun and laughter. In your free time you can join in with the locals on the terraces or in their festivities, learn tradition Romanian dancing and cooking or discover Romania; visit Dracula’s castles, historic Roman archaeological sites, enjoy winter sports or summer festivals.
How this program makes a difference
We have all heard of the plight of the Romanian people. Whilst standards have vastly improved over the years, help is still essential in the rural communities to bring educational standards in line with the more privileged city dwellers. GVI help by providing volunteer hands-on assistance and care to give the hope of a future to the underprivileged. Your contribution not only helps to fund the project but also assists with the supply of essential materials and equipment for the community as well as the provision of project equipment to the local partners. The hands on work and funding provided by volunteers will greatly help our local partners’ ability to keep and improve these facilities.
