Management couple required for budget hotel and campsite in Uganda
Responsible for the day to day running of an established backpackers/budget camp in Kampala, Uganda.
Ideal Candidates will possess the following qualifications:
• Minimum A-level (or equivalent) standard of education.
• Management experience (currently we employ 40 staff in Kampala).
• Excellent inter-personal skills
• Numeracy and a sound knowledge of book-keeping procedures (day to day and monthly returns).
• Computer literacy (Microsoft Word and Excel).
• Cooking and catering experience (oversight of a busy kitchen).
• Internationally recognised driving licence.
• Experience of basic buildings maintenance.
Remuneration provided will include:
• Competitive salary.
• Accommodation in a furnished two-bedroom house with kitchen, bathroom and living room.
• Food allowance, bar discounts
• 5 days off per month.
• 13th month bonus at end of completed 12-month contract.
• All visas and work permits.
The job can be demanding and involve long hours so please don’t apply if you’re looking for a holiday job – this is a professional, ongoing position. There will be an initial 12 month contract (after a satisfactory probationary period) but we’d ideally like to find people looking to stay here for 2 years + (the couple you’ll be replacing will have been here for three years).
One or both of you will ideally have lived and/or traveled in sub-Saharan Africa, although this is not essential, and have prior experience in the hospitality industry.
The job will start around March 2011.
