Volunteer Partnerships for West Africa has set up a micro-finance program in GA West Municipal area to complement similar initiatives aimed at reducing poverty levels both in the city and in the rural areas.
Volunteers work with a team of local staff to achieve short and long-term program objectives. Volunteers on short stay includes activities such as managing the client database, conducting loan assessments and disbursements, collecting baseline data (social indicators), facilitating business skills training, and designing marketing strategies. A longer placement would entail more in-depth involvement and analysis, like conducting long-term financial projections, reviewing policies and procedures, and developing new micro finance products.

General requirements:
• At least age 18 (no maximum age limit);
• Good knowledge of English language
• Strong commitment to values and principles of volunteerism;
• Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment;
• Ability to adjust in difficult living and working conditions;
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
