Rimba Resort are looking for a team member to help run their new turtle sanctuary. Our aim is to relocate and protect threatened turtle nests on and around our island.

As a marine conservation volunteer your main responsibilities include nightly beach patrols (tides permitting), relocating eggs to our hatchery, cleaning and maintenance, educational work and conducting tours of the project to our guests. You will also get the chance to work in a busy dive base and earn commission guiding snorkel and dive trips. This is an awesome opportunity to have whilst training as a Divemaster. You’ll experience the day to day runnings of a dive centre and may take part in other projects (reef cleans, coral restoration etc.)
The resort is situated on a small island off the East coast of Malaysia, close to Singapore. The season runs from February through to December. The living is fairly basic but comfortable. Food is mainly Malay style with a small kitchen area if you’d like to cook for yourself. Shoes not required.

This role requires a great deal of flexibility due to its diverse nature. We go with the tide. The ideal candidate is a hardworking, proactive, sociable individual with a huge passion for conservation. Some of the work takes place at night so must be able to deal with shift work! The work’s not glamourous but extremely rewarding. If you have extra skills you feel you could bring to the table – permaculture, marketing, photography/videography etc. then let us know.
