Then we have the job for you! Our current caretaker is heading back to New Zealand and we are looking for some dedicated animal lovers to take over this rewarding position.
This role is best suited to a responsible couple with mature attitudes and previous animal handling experience. This is a live onsite position based at our SPCA Kennels in Rarotonga.
Your main day-to-day duties will include (but not limited to) the following:
-Feeding the dogs twice daily and maintenance/cleaning duties of the kennels and SPCA site
-Walking and exercising the dogs on a twice daily basis/dogs free-range when onsite at your discretion
-Obedience training of dogs to ready them for adoption
-Using the provided SPCA (branded) vehicle to transport dogs to and from the vets when required
-Pick-ups/drop-offs of animals from residences to vets etc if requested from community members
-Proactive collection of animals for desexing and animal welfare callouts/inspections
-Collection of dog food and kennel supplies when required
-Contributing to SPCA committee meetings and fundraising activities
Please note, Cook Islands SPCA is a charity and members volunteer their time to help the animals of Rarotonga. However, this position does include an onsite residence with expenses paid (except food), SPCA vehicle for related purposes and a living allowance. Start date ideally late July 2016. Flights not included.
WORK VISA/SPONSORSHIP NOT INCLUDED. You must be able to legally visit the Cook Islands on your own behalf on your current Passport and stay in a volunteer capacity as no ‘work visa’ is provided.
