Volunteary Research assistant – Biological Station, Tortuguero, Costa Rica

Vis terrae offer the opportunity to aid resident researchers with a wide range of projects throughout 2011.

The Costa Rican Caribbean lowland rainforest is a hotspot for biodiversity, with a fascinating assemblage of mammals, birds, amphibians and reptiles. The result of this biodiversity is an animal lovers’ paradise; from the morning chorus of Howler Monkeys in the forest canopy to the cryptic mammals of the undergrowth – there is something for everyone.

Applicants

Applicants do not need a basis in scientific method, as all training will be arranged onsite. Applicants should however, have a keen interest in nature and conservation and be able to work with a dynamic team of researchers on a number of monitoring and applied scientific projects.

Research Assistants are expected to contribute financially to the project (Rates are shown at www.visterrae.co.uk). This money is used to ensure the future of the projects as well as the maintenance of the station’s infrastructure.
