Caribbean island needs looking after

BELIZE / The Island Project

Hello, I’m English and I have an island here, 7 miles off the coast of Belize, near a place called Hopkins. I’m keen to have people come over and look after the place, to ensure I can get away from time to time.

The place has wifi and a resident boat captain, we sometimes have volunteers staying (who will need supervising) and local tour guides occasionally stop off and we sell them a beer or two.

There is electricity (solar) and comfortable beds, a fridge/freezer, rain water catchment system. And a large thatched palapa heading out over the sea, which has a small bar in it and a sun deck perfect for watching dolphins and some pretty spectacular panoramic sunsets. It’s really rustic, the idea is to sympathetically fix the place up, maybe start an organic free holding, and day tripping venue. So anyone with an interest in carpentry, building, gardening or horticulture, would be really useful to have.

Virginia caye is a really lovely place to be very peaceful and relaxing and Belize is English speaking, so no problems getting to know people. There are great spots to snorkel around the island and last but not least two very friendly little dogs to look after. This is an unpaid position, but it’s really very cheap to eat here, there is fish to be caught and lovely local recipes to be discovered.

For more info have a look at https://m.facebook.com/groups/452273591527931?view=info&ref=bookmark Or get in touch with me Willow Reed, via Facebook. I’m the one clutching a fluffy dog!

I am also happy to let you make a living whilst you are on the island. I as much as hosting people with the help of the boat captain, and running the bar, all cash made, to be split 50/50.

This could be for any amount of time, I’m open to offers. For less skilled people, there is are lot of groundwork shovelling etc. to be done.
