UGANDA / Abaana Community Outreach Africa (ACO- Africa)
Abaana Community Outreach Africa (ACO-Africa) aims to serve the most vulnerable groups in society, provide support to HIV positive children, orphans, disadvantaged youths and HIV positive women by laying emphasis on education, health and economic empowerment. So our volunteers work with children living HIV positive children and women in the communities, orphans and other vulnerable children by supporting them with home and school based care visits to these, special sessions for children and women living with HIV/AIDS and orphans, conducting or play games and sports with these children to psychosocially, support and empower HIV positive women and vulnerable children’s caregivers economically at household levels to have the capacity to look after themselves, conducting school outreach programs to address health issues like sexual and reproductive health, life skills, HIV&AIDS, early pregnancy, Drug and substance abuse and many more among the youth in schools, hygiene and sanitation education.
Volunteers’ tasks
• Social Support to HIV positive children, Orphans and other Vulnerable Children.
• Join in school and home based visits to orphans, positive living
Children to assist in nutrition and hygiene education, adherence Care and Counseling.
• Prepare workshops or presentation focusing on sanitation and hygiene, HIV & AIDS, drug and substance abuse education and awareness to both the communities and vulnerable families
• Office work related to organization development and programming.
• Participate in organizing recreational activities, retreats for Children etc, during special session with children.
• Training of life skills, reproductive health, early pregnancy and relationship issues among youth in schools.
• To identify ways for fundraising for the programs and linking the organisation to international partners.
• Writing articles, photos and filming.
