RWANDA BANGLADESH SOUTH AFRICA BOLIVIA / Tearfund
Tearfund ICS is a 10 week, government-funded volunteer overseas placement that provides the opportunity to work alongside local volunteers to make a difference in communities in some of the poorest places in the world.
We currently send teams to Bolivia, Rwanda, South Africa and Bangladesh. You will travel in small groups with the opportunity to volunteer on a range of projects from:
-Teaching
-Mentoring children/teenagers that live on the streets,
-Construction
-Sports coaching
-Agriculture
-HIV prevention and care
-Enterprise and income generation
There are ‘Volunteer’ places for those who are 18-25 and ‘Leader’ places for those who are 23 and over with no upper age bracket. Please note for leaders applying to volunteer in Bolivia, Spanish is an advantage.
The great thing about the ICS placement is that you don’t need any particular skills, qualifications or cash. All you need is an ambition to make a difference! However volunteers do need to be a UK citizen, an EEA citizen or have indefinite leave to remain in the UK. If you are not a UK citizen you must be able to show proof of residence in the UK for the past 12 months.
You will be provided with lots of support pre, during and post placement which includes: a three day orientation pre placement, fundraising support and a debrief when you return to the UK to support you to do a minimum of one action to raise awareness about your experience overseas.
Tearfund is a Christian charity and we ask that when applying you are sympathetic to our basis of faith and how we approach ICS by working through church based partners.
