New Futures Organisation is a small NGO based in southern Cambodia. We operate several free schools for young people in rural villages around Takeo province. NFO organizes teaching placements in these schools, placing volunteers from around the world in our schools to work alongside our team of local teachers.
We currently have a vacancy for a Volunteer Coordinator to join our administration team. The Volunteer Coordinator will be a point of contact on the ground for volunteers working with our organisation, and will conduct orientation sessions and offer support to volunteers as well as liaising between the teachers, volunteers, and the organisation’s director and staff. Based in Takeo town, they will also work with our international admin team to help improve and strengthen the volunteer teaching program.
Although this is not a salaried position, the Volunteer Coordinator will benefit from free accommodation in Takeo, as well as the opportunity to gain experience working with a grass-roots NGO dedicated to helping educate children in some of Cambodia’s most underprivileged villages.
Continuity and building relationships with our staff will be an important part of this role, therefore we are looking for someone who can commit to 6 months working with us in Cambodia. Knowledge of the Khmer language is not required, but fluency in English is a must, as is patience and adaptability and a willingness to work in what is still a relatively small-town and traditional rural environment.
