Culture Ambassador Volunteer in China

CHINA / Yabroad

You will be the cultural ambassador for your own country and guide Chinese students to operate the Culturesky English Club. You will have the chance to work in two schools in two different cities (Quanzhou and Bazhong) during your stay. You will also receive a training in a third city (Nantong) before starting your work.

The Culturesky English Club is an innovated idea to help Chinese kids embrace the globalization and improve their English. We have set up clubs in two schools in China. One is in Fujian (southeast China) and another is in Sichuan (southwest China). In the club, students can organize and arrange different kinds of activities related to culture and practical English. The goal of this club is to help high school students build cultural awareness, broaden their views, practice English, and be more independent and proactive.

The program takes place in three different locations:

· Training in Nantong, Jiangsu. Volunteers will receive training in how to operate the club, host activities, basic Chinese culture and language, and business etiquettes. Nantong is the first city in contemporary China and the city of museums. Shanghai, Wuxi, Suzhou, and Yangzhou are all approximately 2 hours away from Nantong.

· South Shaolin International School in Quanzhou, Fujian. Quanzhou is the start of the Sea Silk Road and the capital of culture in East Asia. Travelling from Quanzhou to Xiamen takes less than 1 hour.

· Longquan Foreign Language School in Bazhong, Sichuan. Bazhong is the origin of ‘Ba’ culture and is at the center point of Chengdu, Xi’an and Chongqing. It’s also very close to Tibetan areas in Sichuan.

First you will receive the training in Nantong for around 3 weeks. Then, you will go to the two schools in Quanzhou and Bazhong one by one. Depending on the program length you expect, the stay in each school can be one month or longer.
