MALAYSIA / Rimba Resort
We (Rimba Resort) are located on Pulau Sibu Besar in the state of Johor (borders with Singapore) Peninsula Malaysia. Each year we employ seasonal staff to work in our Front of House team, next year the season starts on February 21st 2014 and finishes on – November 30th 2014, and ultimately we are looking for staff that would plan to stay for the whole season.

We are after people who will have an appreciation for what we are offering, that is; a great opportunity to live, work, travel in Asia and experience life on an un spoilt tropical island in the middle of the South China Sea! It’s a different culture, way of life, languages, food, landscape, climate and you get to meet loads and loads of new people from all over the world!
This year we are looking for 6 general Front of House staff who will rotate between departments each week. The main responsibilities for Front of House staff are: Service in the bar and restaurant, this entails basic duties like; clean up, set up, re-stocking, serving guests, stock takes, recording purchases etc. Working in the dive center – cleaning, snorkeling trips, equipment checks. Working in the office- assisting with general admin when needed. General Front of House – meeting & greeting guests, check -in, room checks & generally attending to guests need.
The most important role for our Front of House staff is serving our guests, making them feel welcome & comfortable at Rimba, we need staff that have good social skills, are able to chat with our guests & keep them entertained. On occasions FOH staff will be required to help in other areas, maybe housekeeping, maybe on the grounds, maybe with maintenance. It is very, very important that our staff can work as a team, have good work ethics and aren’t afraid of getting their hands dirty. We also need to ensure that any foreign staff we have, are open minded and willing to accept and adopt some of the local traditions and customs.

A free Scuba Diving course (value is RM1200) if you stay for the season
Monthly cash payment of RM1000 + any cash tips you may receive
Monthly bar allowance of RM200
10% service charge is split between all staff, this adds around RM 200 to your wage each month
Minimum of 4 consecutive days leave per month Free jetty/boat transfers and, van transfers from the jetty to the city
Also, every 90 days, foreign staff Visa’s must be renewed, this requires the person to leave Malaysia and then re-enter, so it’s means a trip to another country for a few nights (e.g. Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia) We will pay for your flights in and out of Malaysia for this… so in short, you get a free trip to another country for holidays every 3 months!
Please remember that the Malaysian currency (as all Asian currencies) is not as strong as Sterling, USD, AUD etc, but this relevant to the cost of living here, it is much less than other places and this is the standard salary rate for this industry in Malaysia. We will provide you with a safe & clean environment at the resort and all your necessary living requirements while you are on the island and then each month when you take your holidays, you will have RM1000 + tips to spend on having a good time & traveling! This isn’t a place to come with the idea of making a million bucks, but you won’t lose money and you will have a once in a lifetime opportunity to experience island life! At Rimba, we have a staff base of 27, which is a mix of local and foreign people. We have 22 chalets, at full capacity we take around 50 adults or 65 if it is a mix with kids. The island is quite small & undeveloped; there are around 7 resorts, all similar set up to ours. Pulau Sibu is around 7 miles from the mainland; the jetty is around 2 hours drive from Johor Bahru and 3 from Singapore. For more info on Rimba, check out our website www.resortmalaysia.com
