SOUTH AFRICA / GVI
Journey into wildest Africa and volunteer to conserve lions in the South African bush and view these incredible predators in their natural habitat.
You will be heading out into a game reserve and assisting in the research of South Africa’s biggest cat, the lion. Not only will you come face to face with lions but you will also have the opportunity to develop an in-depth understanding of this magnificent creature and of Africa’s big cat population, making a real contribution to ensuring their long term survival.
Lion populations in Africa are under increasing pressure as a result of habitat loss, canned hunting and the game farming industry, so the need for research into their behaviour is therefore becoming increasingly vital.
You will be trained in all the vital skills necessary for the project such as animal identification, tracking and using research equipment. No previous experience is required, but you should bring with you a willingness to learn and become immersed in the project.
