KENYA / GVI
Live and volunteer in Africa on the beautiful Shimoni archipelago on Kenya’s South coast, immerse yourself in the fascinating local culture, learn Swahili and contribute to a valuable grass roots healthcare initiative.
You will be working alongside local community health officers to plan and deliver health outreach programs to rural communities. The workshops may take place at schools, community centres and even at local homes. Topics are varied but may cover the following; sanitation, HIV / Aids awareness, pre and post natal care, exercise and nutrition.
The project tackles critical health issues in areas suffering from poverty and poor access to education by increasing awareness and focusing on preventative care.
