SOUTH AMERICA ASIA / Youth International
Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, Galapagos Islands, Nepal, India, Thailand
Youth International offers a unique program that combines international travel, volunteer work in local communities, homestays with families in a variety of socio-economic settings, and exciting outdoor adventures. Since 1997, Youth International has been a leader in overseas gap year programs for young adults.
Team members between the ages of 18 and 25 travel together in a small group with 2 experienced leaders. They visit 3 countries over the course of 3 months, carrying a backpack and using local means of transportation.
The goal of this experiential learning program is for team members to learn about the culture by living it themselves. It is best suited for those who are curious about the world and open to being challenged outside of their comfort zone.
Programs are offered in the Fall (September to December) and Spring (February to May). The Asia program visits Nepal, India, and Thailand. The South America program visits Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, and the Galapagos Islands. All programs begin with a group orientation session at a camp in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. Visit www.youthinternational.org for complete daily itineraries and program pricing.
Dates for Fall 2014 Asia are: September 12 to December 11, 2014. Dates for the Fall 2014 South America program are September 12 to December 4, 2014.
Some highlights include: trekking in the Andes or Himalayas, living with local families, learning about local crafts and daily routines, practicing a new language with host families, visiting famous sites like the Taj Mahal or Machu Picchu, helping out a local community through a construction or renovation project, and making lifelong friends with other team members.
Expires: Sept 1, 2014
