As the 2nd Officer, you will play an important role in ensuring the safety and efficiency of the vessel. At the Master’s discretion, you will occupy watches that are primarily during day and evening hours when senior bridge officers are normally accessible.

Career snapshot:
• Ensures compliance of all safety, security, and environmental regulations, in addition to ensuring alarm and indicator panels are under observation during all times
• Ensures that safety rounds are carried out in accordance with the Master’s standing orders
• Reports any significant events that occur on his/her watch to the Master and/or Staff Captain
• Assists the Safety Officer in training the crew during all drills to ensure that all crew are familiar with their duties in the event of an emergency

Qualifications

Requirements:
• Graduate of Maritime Academy
• Holds Chief Officer or Master license in accordance with the STCW Regulation (II/1) convention issued by a country that has ratified the convention
• Holds ECDIS certificate
• Must have received training in accordance with the STCW
• Solid professional ethics
• Strong written and verbal proficiency of the English and Mandarin languages
• All international applicants must have the ability to obtain C1/D visa (and other relevant visas) when applicable
• Must meet all physical requirements, including the ability to participate in emergency life-saving drills and required training

Preferences:
• Sailed 12 months or more as a licensed officer on cruise ships
