expecting to have a phone line put in a few days after our
publishing date and thought we would wait. Guess what, we’re
still waiting. The Telecom chaps need to ascertain whether there is a line in
the building already. You’d think that they would already know
but seeing as we are still waiting for our military search to be
completed we shouldn’t be too surprised that they don’t. The military search is to ensure that a) we are not spies for a
foreign power and b) we have not bought on military land as
foreigners are forbidden to do. If we have bought a property on
a military base the tanks and soldiers are very well disguised
amongst the apartment blocks that make up our
neighbourhood. Once we have the phone it will be time to buy a desk. The
apartment is still pretty bare: the cardboard that was once our
curtains is now used to hang clothes on, but otherwise they
are still kept in our rucksacks. Despite living here for four
months it still feels like we are backpacking except in our own
home. It has been suggested that we are not yet ready to fully settle
down but we have made a commitment to being in the country
for the next year by obtaining residence permits (605 YTL
each). After the bingo, quiz and pool nights over the winter the town
has got livelier with planeloads of tourists arriving to enjoy the
great weather. It will be interesting to see how the place
continues to change over the next few months. Already the hassle boys are out and the prices are going up so
I’ve tried haggling over the price of beer or a glass of wine.
Generally I’m unsuccessful but I am sure I’ll wear them down if
I try, try again. As I have to go to a hotel once again to send

Shakespearean school Hello! Upon successful contract closure with Aaron for a year
with us, we're looking for serious English teachers who enjoy
helping kids (in between 11-19) and adult to improve their
English skills. About 900 -1100 pounds per month salary (except 4 months a
year when you can have two weeks unpaid holiday), with ticket
to Korea, free accommodation (not maintenance fee provided),
50% of health, pension and other lawful insurance included. You 're expected to teach English conversation, listening and
reading comprehension to kids 6 or 7 hours a day from
Monday to Friday.
