Hello. We were unable to bring you an issue of JAB last month
(our apologies) so we have combined two issues into one. The
reason: we’ve been busy buying an apartment in Turkey and
today we got the keys.

We have been enjoyably homeless for nearly a year and, at
last, have a place to call our own and rest our heads between
travels. Though until we can afford to buy some furniture we’ll
be doing so on a bare floor. Still, the place is our first home so
we don’t care that we don’t have a bed.
Last issue we were headed to Skopje and said goodbye to the
lovely family we stayed with in Ohrid. We couldn’t find a cheap
bed in the city so after wandering around until the 5am train
arrived we moved on to Thessaloniki.
We arrived in Turkey via the UK, coming out for £20 with
Parador Properties. Though they put us up in a fancy, if leaky,
hotel and fed and watered us for five days we wanted to see
more of the area before deciding if Turkey was for us.
We have since been congratulated many times for “escaping”
and though we had fun with Parador we felt their apartments
were overpriced and in the wrong end of town for us.
Altinkum, our new home, is more package tourist than
backpacker but it’s by the sea and the local Turks are friendly
so we feel we can live here happily enough. Turkey seems to
have a lot to offer and we are looking forward to exploring
more of the country once we have fully set up home.

We are looking for a Restaurant Matre'D in charge of beverage
stock control. Two weekly stock takes must be taken.
Responsible to keep the beverage cost in line with the

service, training local staff, meeting and greeting guests in the
restaurant or on the chosen venue, etc. Make sure the bar
service is up to standard.
Must have 2-4 years food service experience with stock control

Tignesie Tots
Tignesie Tots is a new childcare service offering quality care to
families on holiday in Tignes. I am looking for an exceptional
nanny to work within my small company to provide parents
with a professional and friendly service whilst they enjoy
themselves on the slopes.
You will need to be qualified and have a minimum of 2 years
experience. First Aid training can be provided if you do not
hold an up to date certificate. A current CRB would be a
bonus.
Your hours of work would be 9-5pm 6 days a week plus 1
evenings babysitting with the chance of occasional weeks off!
Your contract can be flexible depending on your personal
requirements. Accommodation can be provided alternatively
you can arrange your own and your salary would reflect this.
Salary would range from £150-£300 per week depending on
your age, experience and whether we are to provide you with
accommodation etc.

Nannies required for ski season from Dec 2006 to April 2007
Les Farfadets
Start Date: Around mid December until mid April. Les
Farfadets is a well known English independent childcare
agency based in the French Alps. We provide a quality private
nanny service to individual customers and tour operators.
We are looking for English speaking qualified (NNEB/ BTEC/
NVQ Teacher) and/or experienced nannies for the winter
season . Applicants should be over 18. You will work as a
private nanny in one of the following resorts Courchevel, Val
D'isère, Les Arcs, Meribel.
You will have had previous childcare experience with children
from 3 months and your responsibilities will include working as
part of a team and all aspects of caring for children aged 3
months to 5 years old.
We emphasise quality, flexibility and fun both at work and out
of work. You will get plenty of ski and après ski time. You will
need to be able to provide total care for the children, be kind,
friendly, motivated and active and be able to offer a varied
activity programme outdoors and indoors. You will be provided
with toys for all ages.
Package includes: return flight from UK, accommodation in
resort, mobile phone, ski pass, Skis, competitive salary and
possibility to earn extra for evening babysitting.

We are a family including the parents (27 and 32 years) and
two girls (5 years and 3 months). We are looking for an au pair
who has previous experience with small babies. We need help
from Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm, and your job include
preparing breakfast and a light meal for the older girl who goes
to school daily from 9am to 13.40pm, and taking care of the
baby.
We provide a room with tv and wireless internet connection.
We expect you to be positive, flexible and kind. We are
multicultural family and we speak English, Finnish and
Swedish at home so good language skills are an advantage.
We live in Shannon, which is a small town near to Limerick
and Ennis, 3 hours to Dublin by bus. Good possibilities for
outdoor activities or other hobbies.
