> MEXICO
Among the Mayan People of Mexico. Global Vision
International is pleased to launch a new expedition focusing on
community education and sustainable development in the
stunning Mayan Riviera in Mexico. Expedition members are
urgently required to join the GVI team starting from April 2005
to assist in a variety of sustainable development initiatives,
teach English and increase awareness of the impacts of
tourism on local culture and resources among the Mayan
community.

This is an excellent opportunity to learn about sustainable
development, increase your knowledge of Spanish and be part
of the Mayan community in a beautiful area - one of the top 10
beaches in the world!

Due to pressure spreading down the coast from the tourism
mecca of Cancun, the local Mayan community is finding both
its culture and its natural resources increasingly under
pressure. The expedition supports the efforts of GVI's local
partners to increase the long term benefits of tourism to the
local population.

Expedition members will receive teacher training to become
certified TEFL teachers. There will be ample opportunity to
increase their knowledge of Spanish and learn limited Mayan
while immersing themselves in the surrounding community.
Activities include; English language lessons, providing
information on the area's natural resources and local flora and
fauna, sustainable development seminars, and assisting in the
creation of sustainable, locally run businesses.

Global Vision International is now looking to recruit participants
for the advance expedition starting in April 2005 and for future
expeditions running thereafter for periods of 5 - 20 weeks.
Prior background knowledge in teaching techniques and some
basic Spanish is an advantage, although not essential as GVI
provides a comprehensive training programme. Those
interested in taking part should call Chris Ash on 0870 608
8898 or e-mail: info@gvi.co.uk

> CAMEROON
From September 2004 there will be a volunteer programme in
The Republic of Cameroon which is a French/English speaking
member of the Commonwealth. Our partners are Mr & Mrs
Orock Thomas who set up "United Action for Children" in 1996
as a centre in Buea for disadvantaged young people needing
that extra care for education and job-skill training. There is a
full website pictorial guide and walk through on
www.africatrust.gi

Buea, in the northern English speaking coastal region of
Cameroon is in the foothills of Mount Cameroon, West Africa's
highest active volcano, it is one of the wettest places on planet
earth and is still [just !] an eco-environmental paradise.
Former volunteers are available for comment by e-mail.
Volunteers should understand French but the working
language for both the two week Africatrust induction course
and day-to-day work is English.

Volunteers will be housed within their own accommodation
close to the project. The mid-visit break would be to visit the
capital of Cameroon, the French speaking region as well as an
opportunity to climb Mount Cameroon if it is not erupting! For
more details: www.africatrust.gi

Kumasi. These are under the part-time direction of Dr K.Filson
DVM (a government area director of agriculture) and his wife
who live in Kumasi. Other projects may be offered upon arrival.

On the coast at Accra, the capital, there is a new programme
with The Bridge Foundation where two former British
volunteers are in the longer term residential management
team. It is a programme to bring selected young people off the
streets to provide free sports training as well as then offering
free English and Computer learning classes. Volunteers may
select either to stay in the nearby family guest
accommodation of Mr Ray Quarcoo [ the Founding President
of The Bridge Foundation ] or with other nearby families.

visit outreach village projects with the young resident British
management.

In January 2005 there will be a renewed programme in
Taroudannt, Kingdom of Morocco. The host organisation will

registered Moroccan Non-Government Organisation made up
of teachers and medical professionals in the southern walled
town of Taroudannt.

1994. We are well known and have many friends. The
website www.africatrust.gi shows you Taroudannt which is 40
kms from the Atlantic coast for week-ends swimming
and fishing. GTH aims to provide the extra care needed to help
those young people in Taroudannt who are too often left
out of the normal state care, education and training
programmes. They are helping those with physical, social,
economic and learning challenges.

The members of GTH know of our past performance [see the
website reports and newsletters 1994-1998 ] and are keen to
invite French and/or Arabic speaking graduates to work with
them. Volunteers would stay with families in Taroudannt and
there would be the normal Africatrust two week induction

Global Vision International is pleased to launch a new
conservation expedition to the exotic Rainforest of Costa Rica.

Expedition members are urgently required to join the GVI
research teams starting from April 2005 to explore remote

The expedition is run in conjunction with COTERC (Canadian

Based near Tortugero, the aim is to conduct a comprehensive
