the clinical team. There are 5-8 students in each classroom.

Residential Youth Workers:
Working with adolescents with acquired brain injuries in a
residential school. Will assist with all aspects of daily life
including community participation, maintaining relationships
with families and supervision of health and hygiene. Attend
individual educational planning meeting to set up and
supervise students' goals for the year.

Residential Case Managers:
Working with adults with developmental disabilities in small
group living situations. Assist the individuals with all aspects of
their daily lives. This will include but is not limited to medical
advocacy, relationship development, community participation,
skill building, transportation, behaviour management and goal
setting.

Vocational Case Managers:
Working with adults with developmental disabilities or acquired
brain injuries in a sheltered work placement. Duties may
include supervision and distribution of workload amongst disabled
workers and visits to workers in supported offsite
work placements. Assist with the development of new tasks,
and new customers in the business world, monitoring of
behaviour management as necessary and supervision of
workers yearly goals.

Child Specialists:
Working in a shelter for women and their children who are
experiencing a period of homelessness. Develop and
implement therapeutic and recreational literacy activities for
the children, and oversee program volunteers. Children are
considered to be at risk, and may have experienced or
witnessed abuse or neglect.

Residential Counsellors: Work with a dedicated team of
professionals providing individual case management,
assessment, counseling referral services and advocacy in a
shelter for pregnant teenagers. The shelter aims to keep the
expectant mothers in education as long as possible to enable
them to maximize their earning potential for their family. Must
demonstrate the ability to respectfully work with clients in
crisis.

Cheetah Conservation Project, Botswana - this is a long-term
conservation project incorporating scientific research, practical
species management and community education. The cheetah
is now threatened with extinction due to loss of habitat and
prey, a diminishing gene pool and human persecution.

Volunteers are needed to join this project - and will be working
in the Jwaneng Game Reserve on the southern edge of the
Kalahari desert, and most of the work will involve monitoring
and radio tracking the activities and movement patterns of
collared cheetah on the reserve, investigating behaviour
patterns of the cheetah and so on. An ideal project for those
interested to gain field experience with wildlife monitoring and
conservation.

> ISRAEL
Bridge In Britain / Israel Scholarships
The Middle East produces terrible images of tension, violence
and mayhem. Regular visitors to the Region can confirm
however that calm and normality prevail most of the time.

Israel is a classic regional case study. An almost humdrum
normality is the norm in schools, universities, research parks,
factories and farms. The populations of the country - a
dizzying mix of Jews, ranging from the ultra-orthodox to the
defiantly secular, dozens of denominational strands of
Christians, Moslems, Bahais, Druses and Samaritans - live out
their lives, in their markedly different traditions, largely in
conditions of co-existence and mutual tolerance.

The Bridge in Britain scholarship scheme run by Friends of
Israel Educational Foundation provides 12 award winners with
the opportunity to spend six months immersed in this area.
The next programme will run from January to late July 2007.
12 British school leavers will spend five months working in a
variety of placements within Israel; and a further month
travelling independently through Israel, the PA, Jordan and
Egypt. The work placements are in both rural and urban Israel,
both in the desert south and the fertile north of the country;
and in a variety of different communities and cultures within
the State of Israel.

Placements by definition are demanding. The Foundation
expects all participants to make their mark on their hosts and
exercise maximum, unrestrained but constructive "chutzpah" in
all projects.

The Foundation provides plenty of opportunities for the
participants to indulge their curiosity, explore the area and
discover the peoples, cultures, aspirations and the many
problems of the area. It's an unforgettable experience. Further
