a busy family-run British Pub / Restaurant situated in

resort of Cala Llonga in Ibiza. We are looking for an
experienced chef (ideally with pub-cooking experience)
to work
with us for this summer season (May - end Oct 2004).
The job will
involve all usual aspects of food preparation and
cooking, and washing-up and cleaning duties. At times

may also have to take meals out to the restaurant and
help out

General Description: Dealing with the needs and requests
of
Olympic holidaymakers, ensuring maximum satisfaction with
services provided and overall holiday enjoyment.
Key Responsibilities:
* The transfer of guests from the airport to accommodation
on
departure, and airport to accommodation on arrival, including
arrival and departure information speeches whilst on board
the
coach. Organisation of check-in areas. Meeting and greeting
guests on arrival. Dealing with any related problems.
* Presentation and organisation of welcome meeting
(information) speeches. The sale of excursions and car
hire to
increase holiday enjoyment and maximise on local income.
* Problem solving, offering advice, assistance and support
to
Olympic guests. Reporting of problems and incidents.
* To ensure company image is kept to the highest standard
by
upholding company policies regarding staff appearance,
uniform, staff behaviour and in resort branding.
* Administrational duties including health & safety
audits, room
charts, reporting, quality control reports and guest related
administration. The reconciliation of excursion sales
with
tickets sold, and the payment of monies for excursions,
car
hire and other company authorised item sales.
* The guiding of excursions, ensuring guests welfare and
ensuring guest satisfaction and enjoyment of the event.
* Daily visiting of all allocated properties, to ensure
guests
satisfaction.
* Ensuring a positive, open communication with all suppliers
&
accommodation owners.
Secondary Responsibilities:
* Basic administrational duties when required such as
photocopying.
* Holding welcome meetings and covering duties/visits
when
there is absenteeism of colleagues.
* The accompaniment of guests to officially requested
appearances when necessary, e.g. police station / court
house.
* Hospital visits when guests are admitted for medical
reasons.
* The completion of brochure descriptions (when and if
necessary).
Reporting Relationships:
To report directly to the Senior
Representative / Head Representative / Resort Manager
dependant upon the size of the resort.
Employment
Terms: Seasonal contract. Basic salary.
Percentage commission on excursion sales, car hire, local
lets
and other company advised items. Provision of company
transport when necessary. Provision of company

Provision of flight to and from the UK.
The season
will commence in March and continue until the

Skills requirement: Must be a native speaker of English,
like
working with people and be enthusiastic to teach. Experience
as a teacher NOT necessary as you will be teaching with
the
support of a Japanese teacher. You must have an international
drivers license (you are eligible to obtain an international
drivers license in your own country, if you hold a normal
drivers license).
Work responsibilities: About 5 hours teaching per day
Place: Kitami city, Hokkaido
Beginning: January 26
Period: Minimum 3 months (6 months is preferred)
Visa: A Working Holiday Visa is preferred *, but not essential
Monetary remuneration: 100,000 Japanese yen per month,
(100,000 yen is about $900 US, or about $1,200. Australian).

Position #2
We are an English Language School, come vegi garden for
self sufficiency, come alternative center. come retreat,
come
backbackers guest house. Here are the details:
Period: 3 months
Must: Be a native speaker of English, and have an
international drivers license, willing to work in disparate
locations, able to work with minimum supervision, like
children
and be a happy and cheerful person.
Work: About one to two hours a day teaching Japanese
children and adults.
Monetary remuneration: 10,000 yen per month (10,000 yen
is
about $90 US, or about $120. Australian).
Other remuneration: Accommodation in a separate bedroom
for each person in one of the school residences, and food
for
you to prepare your own meals is provided. Also, outings
to
places of interest and introduction to Japanese people
and
culture will be arranged at no cost. Teachers can use
our car
for personal use at no cost to them.
Visa: A tourist visa is sufficient on the basis that this
is a
cultural exchange and the moneys paid are toward personal
living expenses.
Other notes: You may undertake other paid work of your
choice at times other than when you are teaching at this
school.

Location: Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan
Commencement Date: As soon as possible
Duration of the exchange: 3 months
Visa Requirements: A tourist visa is sufficient on the
basis that
this is a cultural exchange and the moneys paid are toward
personal living expenses and airfare costs.
What you need give to the exchange: Teach English
conversation to Japanese children and adults. Work six
days
a week at times that the school determines lessons to
be held.
Support with school promotions as is required. A total
time
commitment of 15 hours per week.
What you will
receive from the exchange: Furnished living
provided and all maintenance and expenses provided. Food
stuffs provided for you to cook all your own meals. Brief
introductory training and all teaching materials provided.
Education and introduction to Japanese language and culture

Notes: You will be met at Sapporo station at your time

Archaeological Camps In Semirechie And South Kazakhstan.
During the summer and autumn of 2004, ISP (International
Scientific Projects) in cooperation with NIPI PMK (State
Institute for Scientific Research and Planning on the
monuments of Material Culture, Min.Culture, Kaz) are
organising 5 archaeological investigations covering Bronze,
Iron and Medieval periods in southern Kazakhstan (region
of
Otrar and Turkestan) and Semirechie (region of Bishkek,
Almaty and Taldykorgan).
The programme
of work includes surveys and excavation of
settlements, camps and tombs of various nomadic and settled
peoples, as well as open-air lectures in the history and
archaeology of the steppes and the Silk Road and visits
of the
local region.
Sessions will
take place between May and October 2004 and
are between 15 days and one month in duration. Volunteers
and students of archaeology are welcome to join us. The
participation fee is 250 or 300 per week and academic
credit is
given by the NIPI PMK. Volunteers and students will be
lodged
in a student hotel in Almaty and in tents on the field.

Global Action Nepal. Nepal, one of the most beautiful

Finca Roots is a very new permaculture project / organic
farm
run by a small family in the beautiful foothills of Volcan
Turrialba. The farm is roughly 6 acres with an abundance

fruit trees, vegetables in progress, a goat and 10 chickens.
There is a section of forest and a river in the boundaries
of the
farm.
There are no strict rules as to how much / how little
volunteers
can work. Some people come to learn about organic farming
and permaculture, others want to work a full day, it's
entirely
up to the individual. Work can be done in the garden,

animals, in construction, helping with the children (aged
1 and
3). There is something for everyone!

Azafady is a registered UK charity (no. 1079121) and
Malagasy NGO working to alleviate poverty, improve well-
being and preserve beautiful unique environments in
southeast Madagascar. We are an award winning team that
works alongside rural communities on integrated conservation
and development projects helping communities to build

better future for themselves.
Pioneer Madagascar
is a ten-week volunteer scheme, run by
Azafady, departing four times a year in January, April,
July and
October. Pioneers gain first hand experience of frontline
development and conservation work with NGO Azafady.
Volunteers live, work and travel through some of the most
beautiful and remote parts of southeast Madagascar. Living
under canvas with basic facilities, the types of projects
that
Pioneers will be involved include: building wells to provide
clean water which helps protect villagers from the spread
of
cholera; monitoring endemic and endangered lemur species;
assisting with GPS and other data-collection for forest
management plans or establishing community market gardens
and beehives to improve nutrition and provide villagers
with
alternative incomes.
As part of
the scheme, volunteers are asked to raise through
fundraising a minimum donation of 2,000. This goes directly
to
support Azafadys charitable work, with only a small proportion
used to cover the volunteers food, safe water, in-country
travel, orientation and language training whilst in Madagascar.
Full support and advice is given to applicants on fundraising,
international travel, visas, insurance and medical preparations
before the expedition. Groups of 10 to 15 Pioneers are
accompanied by dedicated staff whilst in Madagascar.
Pioneer is
open to people over the age of 18 of reasonable
fitness. No specific qualifications are required; we are
looking
for enthusiastic volunteers who are happy to participate
in the
varied on-going projects of Azafady.

Earth
Network is a Ghana based organization dedicated to
promoting sustainable development, agro-forestry,
environmental conservation, international solidarity through

malnutrition, disease, illiteracy, drug abuse, unemployment,

Network was founded in 1998. Meaningful
programs has been the hallmark of our organization since

inception, offering travelers from abroad the most socially

tourism. "Save the Earth Network" work mainly
in partnership
and collaboration with groups, individuals, institutions
and
other organizations in Ghana.
Voluntary Work
Program. We offer volunteer
placements/opportunities in Ghana in conjunction with
our
partner organizations in Ghana in areas that includes
renovation and construction of school buildings for poor
rural
communities. Teaching children English language,
mathematics and christian religion at schools for under-
privileged communities. Caring for orphans, destitudes
and
abandoned children in foster homes and orphanages and
providing them free education. HIV/AIDS education. Re-
aforestation (environmental conservation), agroforestry
and
rejuvenation of degraded farmlands through tree planting.
Organic farming, primary health care and other community
development programs.
Volunteers
could participate in most of the volunteer programs
at all year round. Volunteers mostly work alongside our
staff
and volunteers from the local community. Special skills,
professional qualifications or previous experience is
not
required of volunteers in most of the programs, however
some
of the volunteers may undergo a short (one week) training
in
Ghana prior to the volunteering work. What is required
of them
is motivation, charisma, initiative, drive and the compassion
to
assist the under privileged overcome their challenges
and their
struggle for dignity.
Volunteers
working days a week is four (Mondays to
Thursdays) and their working hours a day is four or more,
depending on them. We arrange for the volunteers to stay
with
good host families. Pipe born water and electricity are
mostly
available. Meals, a private room and bed is provided to
each
volunteer. Volunteers can participate in most of the programs
from a period of 4 weeks to 52 weeks or more.
Visitor / Cultural
Exchange Program. We arrange for people to
stay with host families for a holiday, cultural exchange,
friendship, relaxation and recreation or to learn the
local
language, cooking the local food. The cost including board
and
lodging is the same as that of the volunteer program.
Participants can also join the three-day weekly general
tour
groups if they wish.
The cost of
participating in the volunteer and / or cultural
exchange program is as follows:- (A) $475 for 4 weeks,
(b)
$775 for 8 weeks, (c) $1,075 for 12 weeks. Payment should
be
made a day after their participation starting time and
when
they are in Ghana.
