Concordia
is a small not-for-profit charity committed to international
youth exchange since 1943. We place young people aged
17-30 on international volunteer projects in Europe (East
and West, including the UK), Africa, the Middle East,
South-East Asia, Latin-America, Japan and the USA. Volunteers
work as part of an international team on projects ranging
from nature conservation, renovation, construction and
archaeology to social work, including working with adults/children
with learning or physical disabilities, childrens' playschemes,
youth work and teaching. Projects last 2-4 weeks with
the main season being from June to September, though a
smaller winter/spring programme is available. No experience
or specific skills are necessary though enthusiasm is
a must. Volunteers pay a registration fee of approx. £85
and fund their own travel. Board and accommodation are
free of charge. Concordia also recruits experienced volunteers
to help co-ordinate projects in the UK for which all expenses
are paid.

Volunteer placements on Tropical Conservation Projects.
Frontier, an international conservation and research NGO,
is looking for enthusiastic and committed self-funding
volunteers of all ages, backgrounds and nationalities
to work on urgently needed conservation projects for 10
or 20 weeks. Frontier projects in Madagascar, Tanzania
and Vietnam work in threatened ecosystems including coral
reefs, rainforests and savannas to ensure the appropriate
protection for endangered habitats and wildlife.

carry out biodiversity surveys, resource-use assessments
and practical projects such as environmental education
alongside field scientists and local students and villagers,
living and working in basic conditions in remote, unexplored
locations. No previous experience or qualifications
are necessary as full training is provided, leading to
a BTEC qualification in Tropical Habitat Conservation.

AGRICULTURE
Volunteers needed to help out on our 62-acre organic farm
in beautiful West Wales. Food and accommodation in our
farmhouse provided in exchange for 8 hour work per day,
5 days per week. Please note that we cannot pay you, but
there are many benefits for enthusiastic volunteers! We
accept any nationality (must speak a little English),
but please check with UK immigration. Apparently voluntary
work is still work - so some guests come on an "educational
farm visit". We aim to be self-sufficient and have
Jersey dairy cows, suckler cows, Tamworth pigs, ducks
& chickens. We grow our vegetables in and outside
the polytunnel, make bread, butter, yoghurt, cheese, jams,
beer, cider & preserves. We live here with our parents
and our 2 children (another expected in March!).
Work
involves helping with the animals, hedging, fencing, clearing
brambles & bracken. Seasonal work includes ploughing,
planting, hay making, harvesting barley, oats & straw;
inevitable weeding on an organic farm, and best of all,
