of cigarettes by the seven year old child who seemed to be
running the corner shop. I was also told by a European boxing
champion, in a bar and in hushed tones, if I knew anyone who
wanted to buy a villa. I would of course get a commission for
any sale; though whether I would actually get any is unlikely. The guy from whom we bought our apartment used to work in
a hotel called the Triton. He is also a qualified accountant and I
find it unlikely that an accountant in the UK would also double
up as a hotel manager. I’m headed there in a moment, they
have WiFi and as we as yet do not have a phone line it’s the
only way to get this issue to you at 6 in the morning. I had hoped to outline some of the work options I’ve
discovered in our time in Didim/Altinkum. However that will
have to wait until next months issue as I have to head down to
that hotel before my 7am deadline. I’ve met plenty of people
who have found a niche here and got around the work
regulations (ie you’re not allowed). Some work for the, generally low, wages, while others do it to
fend off the boredom that many feel in a holiday resort in
winter. There’s only so much quiz nights, pool tournaments,
karaoke, bi lingual bingo and alcohol abuse one can take. Speaking of quiz nights we won one the other night and got a
free bottle of wine. We’ve come second so many times we’re
thinking of hiring an open top bus to celebrate. I also promised
friends that work in this hotel I would give them a plug - the two

Managers will put down a deal with your people. If you have
done a good job and got them excited, they will happily agree
to buy the holiday product and you will get paid a commission
between 8 to 15% of the deal plus a Bonus which will be fixed
new every day. You will get 2 Tours every day, very seldom 3 (depends on the
Resort) and the only thing you will have to do is to talk to these
people and show them around, do you think you could do that?
I was very nervous when I started my first tour and forgot all of
what I have been told to do, but guess what: I got my first deal!
It is very difficult to explain how it feels to get a deal (well, the
Manager got it for me, but anyway...) It is as if you would fly,
and when you realize the amount of money you just earned,
just by talking to people... Unbelievable! With this job you can
earn from 300 to 8.000 US Dollars/Month or even more, it all

Shanghai YULUN Group – Hangzhou We are looking for native English speakers to teach in primary
schools or kindergartens from the beginning of March (6 or 12
month contract periods). Teachers will ideally have a university degree in any discipline

the most important qualities of teaching English to young

Native English speaking au pair required
Rose Hungate I am an English girl living in Turin, Italy and am helping a
family here find an English au pair. The family have 4 children
aged between 9 and 18. Both the parents are doctors. They
live in a beautiful old villa nestled in the hills surrounding the
city of Turin. It is about a 5 minute car drive to the children’s
school and the city itself. The children attend the French
school of Turin so all their lessons and homework is done in
French. There is no need for the au pair to have any
knowledge of French at all though. The family are looking for an active person to look after there
children. They don’t like the children to spend too much time
in front of the tv or computer but prefer them to be outside
when the weather is good. They are particularly keen to find
someone prepared to kick a football around the garden with
the boys, playing outdoor games, etc. Inside they like to be
creative, for example doing drawing or modelling with DAS. The hours of work are from about 4.30 pm until around 8pm
during the week. The au pair is not expected to drive the
children to school so you would have your days free until
approximately 4.30 pm, apart from Wednesday when the
children finish school at 1pm. This means that you would have
plenty of time to explore the city during the day, go shopping,
visit museums etc or even join an Italian course. This is what I
did when I was an au pair in Turin and found it the best way to
meet people. As a live in au pair you are of course very
welcome to join in all the family evening meals but you are not
expected to work in the evenings (except on very rare
occasions), so after dinner you would be free to go out or do
as you please. They do require you to work a full day
Saturday and Sunday and also they require more help when
the children are on school holidays. However you are entitled
to a free weekend once a month and 1 free day every month.
However this arrangement is very flexible and days off can be
saved up so that you can visit other places in Italy, obviously at
a mutually convenient time for both you and the family.
Flexibility is fundamental in this job as I’m sure you can
appreciate. In the winter months the family go to mountains in Mont Blanc
at the weekends where they go skiing. The children attend a
ski club during the day so you would have the possibility to
learn to ski if you’ve never done it. In the summer they spend
two months in Formentera, a small Spanish island where the
life is very informal and the children spend all the day on the
beach. It is very important that the au pair is able to swim.
When you are in Spain you will share a room with the maid,
however at home in Turin where you spend most of your time
you have your own room and just have to share a bathroom
with the maid. As they have maids you would not be expected to do any
housework or cooking. However you would be expected to
help the children keep their rooms tidy, put their clothes away,
prepare their school bags and make sure that they have done
their homework for the next day. As driving is an important part of the job (picking the kids up
from school etc) it is important that you are a confident driver.
Obviously they drive on the right hand side in Italy but you get
used to this quite quickly as I found out. As for your free time
you do not have your own car as such but if you ask the
mother before hand it may be possible to use her car when
you want to go out. However there is a bus that goes from
outside the house right in to the centre of town which runs very
frequently. The whole family speaks very good English, they have always
had English speaking au pairs so the children are fluent.
There is no need for you to be able to speak Italian. They
want you just to speak English to the children for them to
improve their language skills. The monthly salary is 400 euros per month and 600 euros per
month during the summer when you are in Spain and they
require you to work full time. I can assure you that in Italy this
salary is very reasonable compared to similar jobs in the area.
However if you have any questions concerning the salary
please let me know and I can speak to the family. They would
like the au pair to be able to stay until beginning of September

Orangutan Foundation The Orangutan Foundation is looking for adventurous individuals
who want to make a real difference to join our Volunteer Programme
in Indonesia, Borneo. Our programme is like no other; not only will you participate in
hands-on conservation fieldwork that really makes a
difference; you will also see orangutans in their natural habitat.
Volunteers are based either in the Tanjung Puting National
Park or the Lamandau Reserve, a release site for rehabilitated
orangutans in Kalimantan, Indonesian Borneo. You will also
get to visit Camp Leakey, the historical research site of Dr
Biruté Galdikas. Volunteers are involved in construction based projects with a
conservation aim. Previous projects have included;
constructing guardposts, structure repair, trail cutting, installing
walkways and signs, and developing an information centre.
Objectives for 2007 include damming a river to restrict illegal
loggers and further construction to aid logistics and security
around the Lamandau Reserve. Volunteers must note that there is no direct contact with
orangutans although wild and/or rehabilitated orangutans will
be seen in the vicinity. A day is also put aside to visit our
Orangutan Care Centre and Quarantine Facility. Each volunteer programme runs for a set period of 6 weeks.
We will be sending out four teams between April and
November in 2007 and there are currently places remaining

also have a small olive tree nursery and some special sheep.It
is at Moora, 2 hours north of Perth on the main bus route to
Geraldton. The vines are 300 m from the accommodation, all under
netting. Inside the nets are also chickens and guinea fowl,
some with baby chicks. We have many (more than 30) bird
species including eagles as well as wild life like kangaroos,
rabbits and foxes around. It offers a real country experience. People do their own food using our campers area facilities.
You can sleep in single person’s rooms with one room per
person with single bed, mattress and power points in the room
- a bit away from the house (60m). We charge $10 /day for the
room which also covers gas, electricity and water. You may
also put up your own tent or caravan for $5/day per person.
We supply power and water. The farm water is better than city drinking water and is so good
we can bottle it, so no need to bring water. This is a valuable
extra benefit because it saves a lot of cost for pickers who
normally have to buy water in other areas - and you can drink
as much as you need! You may want to use a hat - any sloppy, hanging down type is
good. (wide brim hats get stuck in the vines or blow off).
Sunscreen and Rid repellent is always good to have. Any
shoes or sandals will do – it’s sandy and many work bare foot
when it is hot. Very light clothes, shorts & t-shirt for the day. It
often cools down at night so warm stuff is important. Bring a
