UK CHANNEL ISLANDS
Stocks is a small, family owned hotel located on the beautiful
and remote Channel Island of Sark - famous for having
no
motor cars. The island is essentially a fishing and farming
community, although tourism is the single biggest employer
today.
Every
year we recruit a small team of dedicated and willing
young people to work alongside us in the hotel, the restaurant
and the bar. Previous experience is not essential but
some
basic common sense is! Hospitality is not rocket science
but it
does require lashings of personality combined with some
good, old fashioned common courtesy.
We
require a small team of staff who are prepared to multi-skill
in the housekeeping; laundry; restaurant; bar and kitchen
areas. We also require a gardener and a pool maintenance
person.
If
you have PMA (Positive Mental Attitude) we would be
delighted to hear from you. Please send a brief CV, a
small
photograph and list ten good reasons why you are the right
person to spend an unforgetable summer of love on Sark.
Nationalities accepted: we cannot help with work permits
or
visas for applicants from outside the EU. Email Stocks

MEXICO
Among the Mayan People of Mexico. Global Vision
International is pleased to launch a new expedition focusing
on
community education and sustainable development in the
stunning Mayan Riviera in Mexico. Expedition members are
urgently required to join the GVI team starting from April
2005
to assist in a variety of sustainable development initiatives,
teach English and increase awareness of the impacts of
tourism on local culture and resources among the Mayan
community.
This
is an excellent opportunity to learn about sustainable
development, increase your knowledge of Spanish and be
part
of the Mayan community in a beautiful area - one of the
top 10
beaches in the world!
Due
to pressure spreading down the coast from the tourism
mecca of Cancun, the local Mayan community is finding
both
its culture and its natural resources increasingly under
pressure. The expedition supports the efforts of GVI's
local
partners to increase the long term benefits of tourism
to the
local population.
Expedition
members will receive teacher training to become
certified TEFL teachers. There will be ample opportunity
to
increase their knowledge of Spanish and learn limited
Mayan
while immersing themselves in the surrounding community.
Activities include; English language lessons, providing
information on the area's natural resources and local
flora and
fauna, sustainable development seminars, and assisting
in the
creation of sustainable, locally run businesses.
Global
Vision International is now looking to recruit participants
for the advance expedition starting in April 2005 and
for future
expeditions running thereafter for periods of 5 - 20 weeks.
Prior background knowledge in teaching techniques and
some
basic Spanish is an advantage, although not essential
as GVI
provides a comprehensive training programme. Those
interested in taking part should call Chris Ash on 0870
