JAB IN TURKEY

Hello, the computer and phone problems persist and have
affected this bulletin yet again. We still do not have our own
phone line or access to a fast enough service to clear the
80,000 emails, mostly junk, that have built up on our main
email account.

Though we use an excellent piece of software called
mailwasher to clean away the junk, when the WIFI services we
use in bars and restaurants drop the connection we have to
start downloading all that mail again from the beginning.

Our back up system on a pen drive device managed to collect
all the jobs that make up this issue but several weeks worth of
email have vanished. Apologies to any advertisers who have
submitted jobs that have not appeared is month.

These were the problems waiting for us when we returned
from our visit to Istanbul which I would love to tell you about
now but we catching a plane to the UK tomorrow, to bring our
furniture (or crap as we call it) to Turkey, and still have an
awful lot to do before then.

Mountain Mover’s is a program dedicated to the health and
welfare of the poor people in Honduras . Since 1999, we have
attended thousands of medical patients in our general medical
clinic in Danli. In addition, we have donated much needed
equipment and medical supplies to local clinics and hospitals
in Honduras .

This program started after Hurricane Mitch. With so many in
need, the medical clinic just sort of naturally evolved.

Three years ago we began a medical and nursing student
program to help serve and train in our clinic. It’s a hands-on
opportunity for students to learn and help treat diseases when
basic necessities are lacking. Both medical and pre-medical
students have come from all over the world to do their medical
electives.

While with us you will work in the general medical clinic
attending patients under a doctor’s supervision. A typical day
starts between 7:30 and 8:00. We attend patients until the last
one is done, usually 4:30 or 5 pm.

The clinic runs off of donated medicines and medical supplies.
Every student is asked to bring in medicine and medical
equipment and supplies when they come. I can send a list of
medicines currently needed.. Please do not bring expired
medicines.

We charge $225 dollars a week for your room- there is no
charge for the medical program. The program is self supported
by the student’s money for their time with us. We do not
receive outside funds or grants. There is no drinking or
cohabitation on the premises, we live in a dorm setting.

In exchange I would like you to be able to do general horse
duties. Muck out stables - groom - tack up - and be a
competent rider. We are 40 miles North of Inverness in the
beautiful Scottish Highlands. The beach is 5 minutes walk with
the horses where we do a lot of exercising. You will have
plenty free time as you will only be required to work for 30 hrs

trains young adult volunteers who then tour the country,
visiting schools and youth groups with a 60 -75 minute fast-
moving and entertaining presentation which looks at the issue
of sex and relationships, relevant to teenagers today.

The presentation helps to redress the balance and gives an
alternative message for the audiences to consider for
themselves. There are no moral overtones and there is no
religious content. Almost 100% of schools ask for a return visit.

Becoming a presenter with Challenge Team UK is exciting,
rewarding and cheap. There is no charge to join a Team and

Section, invites applications for a Research Scientist positions.
The successful candidate will join an active research group on
environmental assessment and applied oceanography and
marine biology research studies in the Arabian Gulf and Red
Sea. Salaries will be based on qualifications and experience.

Our Marine Studies Section needs Research Scientists to work
on client funded research projects. These positions involve
research, analysis and technical report writing. We are looking
to add professionals to our staff who offer a strong background
in environmental assessment, statistics and modeling. The
successful applicants will be expected to establish a strong
externally funded research program and work in the teams
conducting already funded research projects.

Applicants with a Ph.D. degree and four years of experience or
Master’s degree with eight years of experience will receive
preference, but all applications will be considered. Extensive
experience in academic and field research will be an asset as
will a proven scientific publishing record. Good writing and
communication skills in English along with solid PC skills
(Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access) are needed. Scientists
must be experienced in providing technical analyses, project
management support and writing/reviewing technical reports
on potential impacts from industrial and municipal activities on
the marine environment. Strong quantitative analytical skills
are necessary.

Four positions are available in the following fields:
1. Coral Reef Ecology – Applicant should have knowledge of
coral biology, coral reef fisheries management, and monitoring
techniques required along with experience with underwater
survey techniques and internationally recognized diving
certification (NAUI, PADI, etc.). Knowledge of the principles of
coral reef management and computer protocols for database
development and applications is required.

2. Marine Chemistry / Pollution Chemistry – Applicant should
possess a thorough knowledge of broad scientific principles
and a good understanding of contemporary marine pollution
issues, in particular impacts from industrial activities
(preferably in oil development) on the marine environment.
Experience in Laboratory Information Management System
(LIMS) is an advantage. Hydrocarbon analytical and data
interpretation experience is required.

3. Oceanographic Modeling – Applicant must possess a
through knowledge or technical discipline in marine modeling,
particularly hydrodynamic and sediment transport modeling.
Must have good programming skills to develop new and
upgrade existing modeling software. Applicant should be able
to work with our impact assessment team to determine the
extent and nature of impacts from pollution events such as oil
spills or dredging and landfilling activities.

4. Seagrass Ecology – Applicant should be familiar with the
conservation biology of seagrasses, biological diversity of
seagrass ecosystems and human impact on seagrasses.
Knowledge of seagrass restoration and resource management
will be an asset. Research emphasis will focus on the impacts
of pollution events including oil spills on this valuable marine
community.
