JAB - THE JOBS ABROAD BULLETIN
A Monthly Bulletin for Finding Jobs Abroad,
Working Holidays and Gap Year Opportunities
===================================

ISSUE 25 / APRIL 2002 / PART 1 OF 5

JAB contains advertisements placed by employers, placement organisations and
agencies. Readers should be aware that visas / work permits may be required.

You are receiving this newsletter because you asked for it. Anyone may
join the Jobs Abroad Bulletin at http://www.payaway.co.uk/jobs.shtml

At the bottom of each part of each issue of JAB you will find your unique code
that can be used to make changes to your subscription.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

We've made an extra special effort with JAB this month to celebrate our 25th
issue. Too big an effort in fact because we're bursting our mailing seams. JAB

has also reached 20,000 subscribers and we are off around the World too.

The next issue will be the last one before we set off and what happens after that
is anyone's guess. We've equipped ourselves out to run JAB on the move but

mobile computing is new to us. We expect to battle the occasional tropical

disease and are aware that laptops can get broken or stolen, so if we miss an

issue you know why. So wish us luck and be assured that, whatever the mishap,

we'll get JAB to you anyway we can.

Now is a good time to submit articles to us. I'm desperately trying to complete a
section of the website before we go and articles on working abroad in tourism,

summer camps, teaching English, voluntary work etc will be gratefully received.

Send your completed articles or proposals to jobs@payaway.co.uk

> FRANCE
We are a close family of five that have recently left The UK (December 2001)

and moved to Chatel in France. We have a beautiful chalet here in the Alps and

enjoy the outdoor life. Lily and Lottie aged 7 and 4 are both in the village school

and are picking up French very quickly, whilst Harry (aged 10) has been living

with the British ski academy in Chamonix and skiing competitively to a very high

standard.

Susan (38 years) and Wayne (39) are having a little more trouble with their
French but are still eager to learn as quickly as possible. We have a second

home in the south of France that we are currently starting to renovate.

Our ideal person will certainly be French speaking and from a good background
with and excellent education. Possibly teaching experience as we are

considering tutoring Harry at home for the next 12 months. A love of the

outdoors and children is obviously essential.

The position could be either live in or out and will initially be for a six month
period. A clean driving Licence would be essential. We are flexible on pay and

hours, it will certainly be a great experience with some travel involved during the

holidays. We are a fun family just trying to broaden our horizons so if you are
interested give us a call on 0033 450 813005 or fax your CV to 0033 450

> GERMANY
Au-pair in Germany. What is an ‘AU-PAIR’ - and what does the job of an ‘AU-

PAIR’ entail? Would you like to spend some time living with a family in

Germany? This could be either in a large city such as Munich, Cologne or

Hamburg or in a smaller town, for example Tubingen or Hildesheim, or even in

the countryside. Becoming an ‘AU-Pair’ offers this opportunity to young women

over eighteen.

What does ‘AU-PAIR’ really mean? Being an ‘Au-Pair’ means living at least six,
but preferably twelve months with a German family. It enables a young woman

to learn German and the German way of life. It also provides a general cultural

background to the country and enhances later job prospects where knowledge

of German is of importance.

What is expected of the ‘Au-Pair’? An ‘Au-Pair’ has to help the lady of the house
with the daily chores and care of the children for five or six hours a day. She

may also be asked to babysit twice a week.

What are the duties of the host family? In return the host family provides board
an lodging, welcomes her as a family member, makes the attendance of classes

at a language school possible, gives monthly pocket money (205 Euro) and pays

for her health insurance.

What are the Conditions for the job? Basic knowledge of German; basic
knowledge of housekeeping; experience in dealing with children; age between

18 to 26 years; the will to adapt to the mentality of the host family and the host

country

Who are we? The IN VIA (IN VIA Katholische Mädchensozialarbeit Deutscher
Verband) has its central office in Freiburg im Breisgau and is associated with the
