Language Link Russia

Work-Study is a unique opportunity that combines serious Russian language study with paid part-time work in an international language centre. Participants pay a programme fee in advance for accommodation, Russian tuition and administrational expenses, but they receive wages for teaching their native language, which helps cover living costs during their stay in Russia. For aspiring teachers with no prior qualification, the programme can also be a way to earn an in-house TEFL certificate. The standard programme comprises 12 academic hours per week of General Russian tuition and up to 18 academic hours of teaching, with accommodation in a shared apartment. Language Link's programmes of Russian studies are approved by Russian Language Undergraduate Studies, Ltd.

We offer two different Work-Study programmes to cater for both qualified E.F.L teachers and those with no teaching experience at all. Programme A is designed for unqualified teachers and includes a 4-week TEFL training course. If you have an EFL teaching qualification or experience, we can consider you for Work-Study Programme B.

Volunteers work in hospitals, small clinics, old age homes, orphanages and shelter homes to assist the staff in the treatment of patients. They can educate and guide these disadvantaged people about sanitation, hygiene, nutrition and provide first aid to people with small injuries.

All prospective medical interns also need to submit a resume showing their preparedness for the internship including any relevant college courses taken, and what they hope to achieve from the medical internship placement in Kenya . Generally you will assist/support the doctor/dentists or clinician in the normal routine of medical work e.g. taking vital signs, dressing wounds, taking patients history, counseling patients, providing assurance and moral support to patients' family, disbursing minor drugs tasks like taking vital signs, dressing wounds, administering shots, drawing blood, holding babies while they are being treated, helping to screen and organize patients, assisting staff with getting medicines/supplies, There are a number of medical and dental clinics in Kenya where you can be placed. The medical clinics treat a wide range of conditions like malaria, colds/flu, injuries, pregnancy and childbirth

Volunteers perform and generally helping out in whatever capacity they might need you.

It's a great opportunity to donate your skills and time to helping others in need, while gaining hands-on medical experience and learning firsthand about medical care in Kenya

Our health internships are open to healthcare students as well as pre-med, pre-dentistry and pre-nursing students. As an overseas medical internship (medical students, nursing students or intern), you will work with local staff in support of the health care efforts. You can also work as a dental or medical assistant intern at one of the local hospitals. Teach English, Mathematics, Science and other subjects at schools in urban and rural areas of Kenya.

Your voluntary contribution to teach English as a second language in Kenya or to teach other subjects, will be highly appreciated and fulfilling to yourself. We work with a number of schools where teaching volunteers can be placed. Gracepatt Eco Tours Kenya teachers work under the supervision of an experienced member of the school teaching staff appointed by the Head Master.

Those volunteering are expected to have at least graduated from high school or be enrolled in a college. On completion of a mandatory overseas teaching orientation, the overseas volunteer teachers will be expected to work for between 4 to 5 hours a day.

The students range in age from 4 to 14 from pre-kindergarten to class 8. For the younger children, you can help them with conversational English, basic math, arts & crafts, board games, playground games, sports like soccer and running, music, and any other talents you wish to share. For the older students, you can teach more formal subjects like English, science, math, and history. The school schedule is Monday-Friday from 8am to 4pm with a two-hour sports period from 3-5pm where the students do things like cross-country running, soccer, and basketball.

All classes are taught in English in Kenya.

Qualification: Native English speakers are preferred.

BULGARIA

Come spend a few days to a few weeks in Bulgaria, helping me clear the gardens in several properties I own, chop down bushes and trees, chainsaw logs for fire, build flower beds, repair mud brick walls, repair fencing - get properties ready for sale or rent.

Male or female, single, couples or friends but must be fit and active and not afraid of hard work in hot conditions. But not all work and no play. Get up early, do a few good hours in the garden then go to pool, sit and read a book, visit nearby lakes, mountains and maybe end with a BBQ with other expats in the area.

Accommodation depends on length of stay - longer term in basic villa with wet room (shower, toilet, sink), kitchen with sink (hot and cold water) and can provide electric grill. No fridge though. Call it posh camping! I will provide all meals, can do washing etc. Shorter stays welcome to stay with me in my house so long as ok with dogs.

You will receive pre placement orientation appropriate to length of volunteering and necessities. During this time, you will participate in a 3-day volunteer orientation designed to ensure a smooth transition into Nepali culture life and a productive contribution to the local community. The orientation will provide you with extensive information about your new work situation, as well as tips on handling intercultural issues. After completion your orientation you will be taken to your placement.

Dates and Duration
The program starts on the first and sixteenth of each month.
You can volunteer from 2 weeks to 5 months in a calendar year.

Eligibility and Skills Required
Minimum age 18 yrs

You do not need any formal teacher training or experience to participate, but whatever experience you do have will be taken into account when arranging your day-to-day activities.

CERCOPAN (Centre for Education, Research and Conservation of Primates and Nature: www.cercopan.org) is recruiting for a voluntary Rhoko Manager to start in late July/early August 2009. This voluntary position is based at Rhoko, our bush site, where we help the Iko Esai community to protect 2400ha of tropical rainforest. The site is home to 60 semi-free ranging forest monkeys, and an array of wildlife.

Duties:
- Ensure the smooth running of Rhoko Research and Education Centre
- Logistics/maintenance
- Staff management and administration
- Community liaison and public relations
- Environmental education,
- Ecotourism
- Coordinating infrastructure development.

Essential:
- Excellent practical skills (maintenance, mechanical, carpentry, electrics etc)

- Applicants must have a degree in ecology, conservation, zoology or development and a Masters Degree in a relevant subject
