Volunteer Kotlas
Language Link Russia

Volunteer Kotlas is a program set up in partnership with Lyceum 3 in Kotlas in the Arkhangelsk Region of Russia. The volunteer spends a minimum of 6 weeks assisting in English lessons in a school. The volunteer works 20-25 hours per week as an assistant to trained teachers at the school, who are native Russian speakers. Therefore, as a native English-speaker, the volunteer is invaluable in the classroom. As part of the program, the volunteer can also attend up to 5 hours per week of Russian lessons. The volunteer benefits from experiencing a Russian-speaking environment on a daily basis at the school. This new and exciting opportunity is for those who want to experience life in Russia away from the westernized capitals. Volunteering in Kotlas is an excellent way to immerse oneself in the culture of Russia and meet Russians who have had little exposure to foreigners. For those who want to come to Russia to improve their Russian language, spending time in a provincial town can truly help to rapidly improve the volunteer's level of Russian. Kotlas is a town in the south of the Arkhangelsk Region, where the Northern Dvina and Vychegda rivers meet. With a population of around 60,000 people, Kotlas is not a big town, but is still important. It is a river port and railway center, and has many famous factories. The town is lively and has many sports teams, a theatre and museums.

If you decide that you would like to participate in the Volunteer Kotlas programme (or apply for any of our other opportunities), please go to the application procedure section of the Language Link website, http://www.jobs.languagelink.ru/jobs/application/, read through the guidelines, then fill in and submit an online application form.

Work Study
Language Link Russia

Work-Study is a unique opportunity that combines serious Russian language study with paid part-time work in an international language centre. Participants pay a programme fee in advance for accommodation, Russian tuition and administrational expenses, but they receive wages for teaching their native language, which helps cover living costs during their stay in Russia. For aspiring teachers with no prior qualification, the programme can also be a way to earn an in-house TEFL certificate. The standard programme comprises 12 academic hours per week of General Russian tuition and up to 18 academic hours of teaching, with accommodation in a shared apartment. Language Link’s programmes of Russian studies are approved by Russian Language Undergraduate Studies, Ltd.

We offer two different Work-Study programmes to cater for both qualified E.F.L teachers and those with no teaching experience at all. Programme A is designed for unqualified teachers and includes a 2-week TEFL training course. Details of this training can be found in the attached information pack (please note, the training and internship for Work-Study differ slightly from Language Link’s full-time teaching internship). If you have an EFL teaching qualification or experience, we can consider you for Work-Study Programme B.

You can find in the “Job Opportunities: Work-Study” pages of our website: http://www.jobs.languagelink.ru/jobs/.
